FIBRE.ART.WALES - membership

NEW MEMBERS APPLICATION

Application procedure is in two stages, the first stage is the submission of a CV, application form and images/information of work. Applications will not be considered without the form, image CD and £10.00 application fee.

A committee of FIBRE.ART.WALES members will consider the applications. The membership of the selection committee changes regularly. There is no quota on membership, each application is considered on its own merits and the potential contribution of that applicant to FIBRE.ART.WALES. All exhibiting members are subjected to this selection procedure. A majority vote is needed to progress to the second stage. The decision of the selection committee is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the vote or the decision. Unsuccessful applicants are welcome to reapply.

Applicants will be notified of the results as soon as possible. Successful first stage applicants will be invited to bring examples of their work to a meeting, where they can discuss their work and their future contribution to the group. Applicants invited to submit work must do so within one year of that invitation or they will be required to reapply at stage one. The committee do not give reasons for refusal at stage one. At stage two unsuccessful applicants will be given brief reasons why their work has not been selected. Individual members of the committee will not enter into correspondence regarding selection.

All exhibiting members are subject to continuous selection by their peers. Members who do not submit or do not have work selected for three consecutive years must forfeit membership. This rigorous criteria of continuous selection plays a vital role in stimulating FIBRE.ART.WALES to grow and develop, reacting to the challenges of a changing visual fibre/textile art climate.

• CHECKLIST
• Application form/image information list.
• £10.00 submission fee payable to FIBRE.ART.WALES (non-refundable).
• Labelled images i.e. CD, of at least 6 pieces of work - NB no more than 10 images which includes detail shots.
• A corresponding description list for the images - please state if the work was developed during full time training or during part time specialist workshops
• A current C.V. and personal statement. Even where a CV is included the application form must be completed.
• A stamped self addressed envelope for return of images.

We endeavour to return CD's, however the return of any supplementary documents (photographs etc.) cannot be guaranteed. Do not include any irreplaceable items.
