Statement -
Helen trained at Central School of Art and Design specialising in tapestry weaving. Using weaving as a Fine Art she creates finely detailed tapestries
with attention given to colour, different yarn qualities and textures. Her pieces are mostly in linen, silk, cotton and nylon monofilament, the coloursmainly
being hand dyed by Helen using a combination of chemical and natural dyes to suit her colour palette.

Her recent work incorporates dye and discharge print techniques as well as tapestry weaving, producing an individual and unique form of weaving on
Perspex frames, which she is currently exploring and developing. Inspiration for her work has stemmed from the numerous countries and cultures that
she has lived in: South Africa, Bahrain, Greece and Israel to name a few, her tapestries reflect the themes, colours and patterns that she has experienced
in these places.

Helen works to commission and makes specific pieces for galleries and exhibitions, exhibiting widely throughout the UK and abroad.
She runs workshops for primary schools and adult education covering various textile subjects including natural dying, carpet knotting and tapestry weaving.
